‘Tis the season for family get-togethers, delicious food, and unique presents. ‘Tis the season for eggnog, mistletoe, and matching your scarves and boots. ‘Tis the season for holiday parties, holiday cards, and holiday photos.
If you’re anything like we are, this last one is a bit overwhelming. Holiday cards and photos are a blast…until you have to think of a one-of-a-kind idea. They’re fun…until you have to come up with the setting and props.
That’s where Wicked Wonders VIP Bling comes to the rescue. Check out our list of seven unique family holiday photo ideas below and don’t forget to shop our Christmas and New Year’s jewelry selections!
Get Your Furry Family Members Involved
We wanted to start our list with a bang and nothing tugs at the heartstrings like animals. Get your family’s dog, cat, bunny, hamster, or any other pet involved! Make them the centerpiece around which your family is arranged. Hide them in the back and make it look like a photobomb. The possibilities are endless, and they’re all guaranteed to be super cute.
Dress to the Nines
A lot of photos are centered around holiday-themed clothing. From ironic sweaters to Santa hats, people tend to dress the part of holiday participant. A super easy way to stand out from the crowd is for you and your family to dress up. You can do evening dresses and tuxedos, black dresses, and suites, or even business casual. Whichever option you pick, make sure to accessorize with some hot bling sets!
Tell a Unique Story
Your holiday picture isn’t just a picture. It’s a story told through an image. Get creative with it and tell a unique story. You can do something holiday themed (see our next tip for an example) or something completely unrelated to the season. Do any of your children have winter birthdays? Did you and your partner get married around this time? Find something unique to your family and incorporate it into your photos!
Dress Dad like Santa (and Your Kids like His elves!)
Alright, this one might sound kind of corny, but think of how cute it would be! Not only does it tell a unique story, but it’s sure to bring a smile to the face of everyone who sees it. Bonus points for getting your pet(s) involved as Santa’s reindeer.
Use Some Props
We’ve mentioned this a few times so far without directly saying it, but using props in your holiday photos is a great idea. These can be holiday-themed props or completed unrelated. Santa costumes, candy canes, Christmas trees, Christmas lights, and the list goes on (and on and on!). This tip ties into telling a unique story, too. What do you have around the house that will make your photos unique?
Snap Your Photos Outside
What could be better than getting a family photo in the snow? How about taking your photos in front of pine trees? Maybe you’re going for a classic feel, in which case feel free to snap something in front of a church or firehouse. Whatever you end up choosing, heading outside for your family’s holiday photos will definitely be a crowd-pleaser.
Let Your Kids Go Wild
This tip is kind of risky. After all, you could end up with a funny, heartwarming picture…or you could end up wrapped in Christmas lights as your kids eat all the holiday candy. It’s a gamble, but letting your children’s imagination run wild and photographing the results can make for a unique and awesome holiday photo.
